French students prepare for National French Contest

The upper levels of French students will take part in the annual “Grand Concours,” known to the district as the “National French Contest.”

Junior Maddy Abernathy will be taking the exam for the third time, which is composed in the form of a common assessment that takes place during French classes next week. She explains the potential benefits of taking the test, required by French teacher David Arcangeli.

“Even though it’s kind of a downer for the juniors since we’ve been testing all week, it’s a cool opportunity to see how you stack up with French students that are at the same level as you,” Abernathy said.

Many students are also enticed by the prospect of the chance to win a trip to France, among other prizes, based on their scores.

While the juniors spent their Wednesday morning working diligently on the various “ACT week” requirements, French students were also responsible for bubbling their answers sheets as a prerequisite for taking the exam.

Upon the release of the results of the assessment by its representative, the American Association of Teachers of French, the prizes will be awarded to those that display exemplary understanding of their respective course’s content.
