Cross Country is not an easy sport, but senior Eric Boyle makes it look easy as he breaks school records and is possibly state bound.

Boyle recently ran his best race at the Bloomer Park Course with an impressive time of 16:21, a school record on the course and a personal record for Boyle.

Boyle believes he “has had a solid season,” and that “the meets coming up are the most important,” as he modifies his training to perform well at the league and state level competitions.

Boyle’s own teammates are impressed with his accomplishments so far.

“Eric is a superb athlete and he works incredibly hard at every practice.” Senior Elisabeth Blake said.

“He’s always helping the coaches and his team mates with whatever they need. He is a great edition to the team and we are glad that he joined the team.” Junior Alex Landuyt said.

Assistant Coach Megan Thomas is glad to have him on the team because he “always has made Mileage club and has been committed to the team and ran over five hundred miles this summer.”

Boyle has three major competitions left in the season: the final league jamboree meet on Oct. 17, the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) meet on Oct. 26, and, if he is successful, the MHSAA State meet on Nov. 2.
