Freshman Brandon Drzazgowski participated in the Dec. 7 wrestling tournament at Rochester high school.

Drzazgowski was one of 15 members on the Junior Varsity wrestling team that competed in the tournament. There was a total of about 60 wrestlers at the event.

Meets are usually every Wednesdays and matches are weekly, according to Drzazgowski.

At meets, one school matches their player to another school’s player according to wrestling skill and weight.

There are a total of three rounds for each wrestler.

Round one is a two minute regular match.

Round two is where the two wrestlers flip a coin to pick the position to start in, top or bottom. This is a one minute match.

Round three is the same as round two, only the wrestlers switch positions.

Drzazgowski prepared in advance for the tournament. “I practice wrestling every day. I condition myself in training and focus on things to improve,” Drzazgowski said.
