Programming Class at Stoney

by Miles Vedder

Computer programming teacher Erin Rodger started the first programming class at Stoney. After moving to the area and noticing Stoney needed a teacher in this profession, Rodger, with a minor in computer programming, saw the opportunity and believed that she could bring this class to life.

“I wanted to start this class to give high school students an opportunity to take a step into programming science, a real profession,” Rodger said.

According to Isaac Kozak, the students in this class are taught how to design apps and program them. An average day in this class consists of a lesson on a new concept followed by a project. These projects include a program or game based on the lesson.

“In the future, I feel like this class will have given me a boost on the basics to being a programmer if that is the path I choose to take,” freshman Luke Lowery said.
