It’s no American Idol, but it’s still the biggest stage for young artists to display their talents.

At least, in the school.

The results of the Cougar Idol auditions were revealed on February 24. According to junior and student council member Katie Rourke, 16 students made it past the preliminary tryouts, and will perform at the show later this month.

“Cougar Idol is special because there’s no other singing competition that anyone can try out for in the school,” Rourke said. “It’s also kind of comical, because it corresponds with the real American Idol.”

Cougar Idol is a staple event for the school, according to Rourke. The show is held yearly and is run by student council.

“Lots of students are involved and it’s cool to come up and see your friends participate,” Rourke said.

The show will take place on March 28 in the auditorium.
