Cheer

The Cheer season ended on a low note despite a win at Regionals.

The team came in 8th at states with a score 774.20 points.

Their great performance at Regionals gave them a score of 781.94 and a win.

At regional’s they versed teams such as Lake Orion, Troy Athens, and Dakota, so there was no easy competition for them at any level.

Stoney Creek just beat Athens by the narrow margin of .48.

The team hoped to duplicate its performance from the 2010 school year, when they won states.

The winning score of 785.96 points was awarded to Southgate Anderson this year.

Check out their regional summary here.

Women’s Basketball

The lady Cougars made it all the way to Regionals, defeating Clarkston and Waterford Kettering, proving their grit.

The girls finished their season with a phenomenal record of 17-7 in the tough Oakland Athletic Association’s Red Division.

The team was considered to have a strong defense with a 1-2-2 style, and a potent and lethal offense, with leaders senior Natalie and Lauren Voss, senior Karlee Campbell, and junior Maria Zandi.

When the team met the Pontiac Phoenix’s, they held them to a mere three points… for the entire game.

The senior heavy team brought a lot of experience and dynamic talent to the team. The team will have to deal with Adams next year as they move up a division.

The box score and stats from there game with Marian can be found here.

Men’s Basketball

The men’s basketball team defiantly won all of their games as an underdog until they came across Clarkston.

Throughout the hard fought game Stoney held a lead for the first half.

It was only until late when Clarkston came back and won 62-41.

Stoney’s MVP senior Charlie Carson scored 14 to keep them in the game. Unfortunately his record breaking season and career have been ended at Stoney with this game.

Through the entire post season Stoney was the underdog all the way until there district finals game.

You can watch the Clarkston game and read the summary here.

Hockey

Stoney easily put away their first and second playoff opponents with a combined score of 18-1 against West Bloomfield and Bloomfield Hills.

These high octane games made the team look invincible until, the team had their season ended when they lost to Berkley in their Regional Finals game. The score of the game was 4-2, but the game was very close all the way until the final period.

The first and final periods started in a similar fashion and Berkley scored twice very quickly, very early.  Stoney put up two goals in the second period in response to the first periods goals from Berkley.

Those would be the only two goals scored for Stoney during the game.

Unfortunately, Stoney was unable to respond to the final goals that the Bears put up.

The team did well in conference play and earned a high seed in the playoffs.

The team finished 18-9-1 and had an all-around terrific season.

The box score of the Berkley game can be found here.
