All Students: The BuildOn Club is hosting their first Buffalo Wild Wings Fundraiser on Monday, March 31 at the Walton Road location.  You can dine in or carry out your meal anytime during the day for lunch or dinner.  All you have to do is bring in this attached flyer with you to send 20% of your total purchase to the BuildOn Club at Stoney. 

 We were able to raise $4,000 this year to send 2 students this summer to build a new school in Haiti.  Our goal to is send more students next year for this wonderful opportunity.  Each dollar helps those less fortunate and to help end the cycle of illiteracy around the globe starting with you.

FRIDAY MARCH.14

Technology Drive Participants: The Build On Club would like to thank everyone who participated in our technology drive this year by donating old phones, laptops, and iPods.  We collected over 400 items raising $800 to send students abroad to build homes in impoverished countries this summer.  Thank you again for your help and support.

MONDAY NOV.25

Stoney Creek Families: We have sold many tickets to the play Harris Cashes Out, in response to the Music Booster fundraiser. It will take place at Oakland University in Meadow Brook Theatre on Saturday, Jan.11.  Tickets are still available.

All Students: Rotary Interact Club will be collecting your gently used (clean) or new coats for cupcakes in the Cafeteria. Any size coat, especially very large men’s and very small children’s coats are needed (even boots and snow pants are accepted).

WEDNESDAY NOV. 20

 Participate in SCHS’s Holiday Hoodie Drive: Stoney Creek High School PTSA has committed to help Rochester Area Neighborhood House provide new hooded sweatshirts to over 500 children of families in need in the greater Rochester area. We ask for your assistance to help these families struggling in our community.

Click here to go to our on-line Giving Tree or use your smart phone to scan the bar below, select a hoodie that you can donate and we will ensure it gets to a child for Christmas.

Once you have purchased your hoodie, bring it to the Stoney Creek High School main office anytime betweenNovember 15th and December 9th.  Attach a note to your unwrapped hoodie indicating the gift code provided before each item on the list below, so we may ensure it gets to the child who requested this item. Rochester Area Neighborhood House will provide you with a thank you note acknowledging your gift.  This note, in conjunction with your receipt, will qualify your purchase as a tax deduction.

Stoney Creek Theatre Company Presents Harvey: Nov.14th and 15th at 7p.m. and Nov.16th at 1p.m. and 7p.m. at the Stoney Creek High School Auditorium.

All people interested in Track: Track meeting on Tuesday Nov. 19 at  2:30p.m.  in  the PE classroom.

All girls interested in trying out for the 2013-2014 Competitive Cheer teams:  An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov.7 from 2:45-3:15p.m. in Mrs. Williams’ classroom (C323).  If you cannot make the meeting, please stop by to pick up a tryout packet and sign up for tryouts.  Paperwork will be due at the first tryout clinic on Nov.11!

Juniors: The Princeton Review is administering a Free Practice ACT test here at Stoney Creek High School on November 5th at 8a.m. in the Cafeteria. For free.

 Only you will see your scores when they are distributed at the Scores Back Strategy Session on November 26th at 7p.m. in the Auditorium. At this event, you will receive your diagnostic score report breakdown detailing your strengths and weaknesses and review strategies that will help you improve your score on the ACT. Parents and students are encouraged to attend!

Juniors and Sophomores: Students who are signed up for the PSAT this Saturday (October 19th )please read the following reminders:

-Arrive by 7:45 a.m. and park in the north lot. Come through the main doors between the main and counseling office. Testing begins at 8:00 a.m.

-Bring your blue admission ticket

-Bring school ID

-Bring No. 2 pencils

-Bring a calculator

Reminder the use of cellphones and other electronic devices is prohibited; we strongly advise students not to bring them to the test room.The test takes approximately 3 hours so you should be done around 11:00.

 TUESDAY, OCT.15

Attention all potential  2013-2014 BPA (Business Professionals of America) Club members:  The deadline for joining the SCHS club is Tuesday, Oct. 22.  There will be a “Full Club” meeting on that day and all registration and payments must be received in order to participate this year.  Event selection deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 30.  Don’t miss out on being part of this great club!  See Mrs. Ford in E130 if you have any questions.

Please! You must bring your receipt to the counseling office to pick up your entrance ticket and a packet of info which includes practice questions. This is not a required test, but it is strongly recommended for as practice for college entrance exams.  It is also the ONLY test which will qualify for National Merit Scholarships (for Juniors only).

All students: Please attend College Night on October 22 at Rochester High School from 6:30-8 p.m. Approximately 90 universities and colleges representatives will there in a fair setting ready to provide you information and answer your questions. University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Oakland University will have breakout sessions as well.

Come to the cougar den to “ghost” your friends by sending them a candy gram on Halloween. Available items for ghosting are kit-kats for $.50, cookies for $1, caramel apple pops for $.50, ring pops for $.75, and a combo that includes a kit-kat, cookie, and sucker for only $1.75. Items will be delivered to the victim’s 4th hour on Halloween.

Last night Stoney Creek Volleyball had it’s first home match of the season against Eisenhower. The varsity team lost in 5 sets. The scores were the following: 25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 20-25, 13-15. In the loss, two school records were broken. Sophomore Sammy Sattmann broke the record for kills in a match with 23 and Sophomore Alexa Tomlak broke the record for assists in a match with 48. Tomlak also chipped in with 3 aces, 9 blocks, and 15 digs. Senior Natalie Gotko had 8 kills and led the team in blocks with 17. Senior Morgan Darin played a well-rounded game with 11 kills, 7 blocks, and 21 digs. The Volleyball program begins league play in the OAA Red division on Thursday against Lake Orion at home. Freshman and JV play at 5:30, and Varsity begins at 7:00.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 26

Theater Club is meeting this Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. in room E166, near the band and choir rooms  (NOT in the auditorium). There will be information about volunteering for Dinosaur Hill’s Halloween Hoot.  Hope to see you all this Friday.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 17

The Say Yes to the Dress discount dress sale will be held Friday, Sept. 20 in the hallway by the auditorium from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Come check out dozens of dresses for Homecoming!

Yearbook Announcement: Students getting their senior pictures taken through Prestige Portraits will need to be photographed by Oct. 5. Students will then have until Oct. 19 to choose their yearbook pose; if no pose is chosen, the studio will choose a default pose and send it to Mrs. Millard. As a courtesy, Prestige will personally deliver yearbook photos to Mrs. Millard and students will be included on the class composite for no additional fee. Students NOT getting their senior pictures through Prestige, (the student or their photographer) must deliver a digital photo directly to Mrs. Millard on or before Oct. 7. All senior pictures must meet the specifications of SCHS. Specifications were sent out in a district email and can also be obtained from Mrs. Millard. Students who do not go through Prestige for their senior pictures but wish to be on the class composite must submit a photo directly to Prestige Portraits (4906 Adams Road, Oakland Township, MI  48306; 248-377-2444) with a $20 payment.

You will only be contacted if we do NOT receive a picture by the deadline. If you do not hear from Mrs. Millard, it means that a photo was submitted and will be printed in the yearbook.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 11

The Media Center will now be open before and after school.  The Media Center will be open 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.  and will remain open during all three lunch periods.  It’s a great place to finish homework, avoid the chaos of the hallways or find a quiet place to read a good book.

The deadline for yearbook parent pride ads is Nov 15. This section is very popular and usually sells out. Please submit your completed form and payment by the deadline to reserve your spot. Pictures and text can be submitted at a later date as long as you make arrangements with Mrs. Millard at smillard@rochester.k12.mi.us.

The 2013 Fall Play auditions will be held on Monday, Sept 16 in the auditorium from 3 to 5 p.m.  Audition packets will be available at the end of the Theatre Club meeting on Friday, Sept. 13 in room E-166 (by the band and choir rooms). Packets will also be available on the day of auditions as well. Anyone interested in being part of the Fall Play, must attend the auditions on Monday Sept 16.

Theater Club Members and all students interested in joining Stoney Creek’s awesome Theatre Club. Please come to our first club meeting this Friday, Sept 13 at 2:35. The meeting will be held in room E-166, which is near the choir and band rooms. Fall play audition information will be available.
